Some Helpful Information

• About the manuscript:
I work only on the hard copy and there are a couple of reasons for this. It is very difficult to catch mistakes on a computer screen and is crazy-making to try to go back and forth between pages and sections and chapters to figure out where the writer has previously said the same thing, to indicate where text should be moved, added, changed or deleted.
The changes and corrections I make are suggestions. It is important for you, the writer, to review those changes and decide whether or not to accept them. The best way to do this, and to improve your own writing by understanding the suggestions, is to input the changes yourself.
Correct manuscript format is: typed double-spaced lines in a common #12 font (such as Palatino and Courier New) on one side of the paper, and the paper should not be bound. Please put your name, the name of the manuscript and the page number at the top of each page.
• Please remember that I am not reading for speed. Editing is a slow and pain-staking process. I believe the industry standard is three-to-five pages an hour, depending on the complexity.
• When you send me your manuscript, please enclose an SASE (self-addressed, stamped envelope).
I do charge for photocopies and will make a copy of the edited manuscript before sending it back to you. It is really wretched to have work, particularly a manuscript that has already been edited, lost in the mail. Rare, but it does happen.
